So My friend put some naptha into some soup and shook it up and let it settle for a couple of hours. The naphtha was super dark, but after freezing there was zero spice. Has this happened to anyone?

2021.10.22 03:38 FreshPrinceOfDarknes The calendar date doesn’t dictate your wardrobe.
I’d think this was common knowledge and popular opinion, but judging by the number of bubble jackets I saw in NYC today, I was giving humanity too much credit. Yes, it’s late October. It was also high 70’s!!! You don’t need your goose jacket yet, you fucking sweaty dummy!

2021.10.22 03:38 ramenlover77 21 [M4F] Online - Wanna be Discord drinking buddies?
Feeling like having a drink but you don't want to leave the house and don't wanna be alone? I'm your man
I'm just feeling like having a few drinks while talking to someone on this Friday evening/night (I'm from France so you have your chances if you're from the EU/NA, I stay up pretty much all night), talking about life and stuff and hopefully make some lasting conections!
I like working out, videogames, anime, writing, singing...I can talk about everything tbh but those are some of my hobbies.
I'd prefer someone around my age (18-23), I'd appreciate if you're either french or from an english speaking country.
Please send me a short intro with at least your age/gendewhere you're from so I know who I'm talking to, a short intro is also appreciated since I'll probably receive more than one message, you'll have more chance to be picked eheh. (Or if you just wanna talk and be friends and stuff you can also message me!!)

2021.10.22 03:38 ASProtag I (35M) quit my job, got depressed, started a podcast, bought my own business.
In late 2020 I went back to work for someone who used to be my friend. It was at a brewery he owns and he wanted me to run the restaurant/bar side for him, so I agreed! The reason I say I went back to work for him is that I worked there when it originally opened up back in 2013, but a couple years in he got overwhelmed with the restaurant/bar side of the brewery and leased it out to a different company that came in and basically fired everyone who already worked there (including me) and brought in their own people instead. It was a big mess.
They were on a 5 year lease but about halfway through, the small community I live in kind of became aware of the shady practices and poor treatment of employees taking place and stopped supporting the restaurant/bar. At the end of the lease they decided not to renew and the place went back to my friend. This was great news, I thought, mostly because I loved working there before when he ran it. He called me pretty much right away to recruit me again so I put in my notice at the place I was at and started back working for him two weeks later.
Well, right away I notice things are a bit different. He seemed to take a more "corporate" approach to things, which was nothing like the casual, laid back attitude he had the first time around. Sometimes that was a good thing because everyone can benefit from a little more structure. Unfortunately, it only got worse from there. He had done pretty well with the brewery throughout all this time and made the decision to build a second, much larger location a couple hundred miles away. As soon as they broke ground on construction of the second location, it was like a switch flipped. He expected way more of everyone, especially management (me). Which I didn't really have a problem with until it got to the point that he expected me to make building and electrical repairs that I was definitely not qualified to be doing. He refused to call professionals to handle any of this stuff and would tell us to do it ourselves. He charged the other manager with the task of removing and replacing damaged electrical wires from the back of a commercial double-decker oven. The innards of the wires were torn and exposed and we were not provided with any of the proper tools (or basic know-how) to do what needed to be done. This was just one of many things he demanded we take care of as his daily schedule was consumed with planning the construction of the second location.
Things just continued to get worse and we all felt completely abandoned. His response to any issues that arose was "better figure it out" and we all began to ask ourselves why we should care at all about the place when the person who owns it doesn't seem to? It's hard to stay motivated in that situation.
I lasted until early August 2021 and had finally had enough. Everyone could tell. I couldn't be bothered to give a shit about really anything. Honestly, I didn't like the person I was becoming at work. Zero motivation whatsoever. So I decided to quit dragging everyone through it with me and with no plan in place, I gave the owner (no longer my friend) 30 days notice.
Once I was done I just kind of needed to decompress. I caught up on some shows, played a few video games, started working out. Just trying to take care of my mental and physical health. Except that it was just really a thorn in my side to think about how disappointed I was with the brewery and what was happening. I ended up getting pretty depressed. Stopped cleaning my apartment and quit cooking meals for myself. Quit going to the gym. Fast food 2 or 3 times a day. Put on about 20 pounds. Just a mess.
Finally, after 2 months of not working and not doing anything productive I decided to download some recording software. I had talked about starting a podcast for almost 3 years but had never actually pulled the trigger. I recorded my first episode and got a pretty decent response. I figured out how to release it on Spotify and YouTube and got a couple hundred listens in just a few days. It finally felt like I was lighting a fire under my own ass. I set up a Patreon just for shits, however, I knew it definitely wasn't going to be paying any bills.
One night a few weeks later I see an old family friend out at a bar and I look up and just plan on saying hello in passing and going about my evening. Except as I walked past him he asks, "Are you ready to buy a bar yet?" and I was caught completely off guard. I then remembered that he owned a barestaurant about 20 miles away, but I also remembered it was kind of a dump. Out of respect I humored him and said I'd think about it, with no real intention of following through.
Well, a couple weeks pass and I'm still not working, and my mental health was in the shitter worse than ever. If you're wondering how I've paid bills up to now I was making a couple hundred bucks here and there designing logos and business cards for friends and family. Nothing consistent, but barely just enough. I've also got a small retirement account to pull from if needed. Anyway, I decide to call the guy and setup a time to go look at his bar. I get there and before I walk in I'm thinking that it's going to be just as disgusting as I remember it being a couple years back when I was in there last.
I walk in and I'm immediately blown away. He had remodeled about 80% of the entire place. New electrical, mostly new plumbing, new water heaters, new hardwood floors. The list goes on. After getting the tour we sit down to talk numbers and he tells me a dollar amount that almost puts my ass on the floor (in a good way). The amount includes the full bar and restaurant, the full liquor license, two empty lots on either side of the building, and one more thing that I had no idea would be included: A 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house behind the bar that was built in 2012.
I feel like I'm in a dream. However, even with the great price I don't think my mediocre credit score is high enough to get the loan required to make the purchase. And then he tells me he'd be willing to do a contract for deed, meaning that I could just make monthly payments until I've paid the place off. I ponder it for a few days and decide to do it. I round up some down payment money and as of October 1st I am the proud owner of a restaurant and bar. I'm putting my nearly 17 years of service industry experience back to work for MYSELF and I couldn't be happier. I'm only waiting on the state now to finalize the transfer of the liquor license before we open. But I've been cleaning and interviewing and hiring and running around crazy trying to prepare.
Now I'm usually my own worst critic when it comes to my management style. I second-guess myself constantly. But something that has been extremely reassuring is that now that word has gotten out that I own my own barestaurant, numerous people that worked with me at the brewery have asked me for a job. They're fed up with it too. Of course the owner and other managers are saying I'm poaching employees, but I haven't approached a single one of them. They all came to me wanting to come aboard.
Honestly, my former boss and his minions only needed to look at themselves for a brief moment. All they did was drive people away and hire others to take their places. Not once have they stopped to ask themselves if they could be doing things differently. Zero accountability whatsoever. So I feel no remorse over hiring people from there. I've been in the trenches for nearly two decades. I know what sucks about the service industry and having shitty management/bosses in general and I never wanna put someone else through that. I wanna do right by my team and in return all I ask is that we work together to make this new venture great.
I'm done busting my ass for people who don't care as much as I do. I would never expect someone to put effort into something that I wouldn't put effort into myself. So I'm going to lead by example.
I'm on the 13th episode of my weekly podcast now and I love it. It's hard to find the time to do it with trying to get the barestaurant ready, but I make time late in the evenings. If you read all of this ridiculous post, thank you!
TL;DR: I quit a shitty job with a shitty boss and jumped on a once in a lifetime opportunity to own my own restaurant/bar and I'll be opening soon.
