I toggled this on months ago when I first got the app. I recently changed my mind and can’t turn it off because the option is gone from my settings. Any way to fix this?

2022.01.29 07:53 Darwin_Nietzsche How should I begin to read philosophy ?
Like in other subjects, does one need knowledge of some ideas or concepts of philosophy to understand others or you can just dive into any book or go about understanding any concept without any prior knowledge of the subject ?

2022.01.29 07:53 ChocoCake909008 Extended timeline: What happens to uncolonized provinces?
I'm playing as Aksum, and much of the land that it would eventually come to occupy is uncolonized. From what I can find, the only way to colonize these is to wait until the 14/1500s when that level of technology is available.
Historically, Ethiopia occupied many of those provinces much much earlier than that.
So, are those provinces just doomed to sit there, totally unoccupied until the 1500s? Or am I missing something?
If its how it looks, this is going to bug the crap out of me.

2022.01.29 07:53 SteamySubreddits Conservatives are not automatically bad people. Liberals are not automatically bad people.
Many conservatives think liberals are out for themselves, trying to gain social clout from whining and being offended for other people.
Many liberals think conservatives are just trying to exploit whoever they can to better themselves, whatever the emotional cost.
So much hate has been going around in Spokane (and, frankly, the rest of the country) lately.
In a serious discussion, can we recognize that we jump to conclusions, and that most people are just trying to better the world we live in? I don’t care what side you are on, share why you think some of your side’s controversial policies actually benefit the world so people can see that you aren’t just woke, racist, anti-free speech or misogynistic? There is so much hate going around that it seems the other side is just out for themselves, when really both sides can actually learn from each other. Put your ego away for a minute. I know you think you are correct about everything. Reality is, we all exist in bubbles and the other side could have some good points. We will never learn the true way to create a great society if we are constantly divided by hate. Please, for the sake of all of us, use this thread as a productive conversation starter. Understand why people think a certain way instead of assuming. Listen to facts instead of ignoring them. And, most of all, recognize that we are humans who want the best for others (probably).

2022.01.29 07:53 Solanum47 The separation of man and beast
Both man and animal share the subconscious mind, the limbic system. What man has over beast is the development of the prefrontal lobe, the conscious mind. The conscious mind gives man the ability to create, and be master of will; whereas the animal is slave to subconscious.
The major tragedy is that we grow up trained to use our present mind to serve the will of the animal. Continuously our consciousness is engaged in the pursuit of bodily cravings and identifications. Consumption after consumption, never satisfied and the condition grows stronger. With our consciousness distracted in this continuous pursuit, we live our lives by the subconscious.
In this state we cannot truly enjoy the beauty and wonder of life. When we are always thinking about what we want next or what we were before, what happens right in front of our eyes is seen only in peripheral. Life becomes seemingly so hard and confusing in this way and we sometimes suffer it greatly.
The key to quality in life, is the proper training and use of the conscious mind. We should use our conscious mind in witness of the subconscious, and the surroundings that influence it. To be sensitive to how things are, and how they become.
Instead of using the mind to support the instinct of the limbic system, when we engage our cortex and watch how we feel and why we feel, we learn greatly of ourselves and the world (or whatever the object of our perception is); our capacity to live a good life is magnified in parallel. To know who you are and become who you wish to be.
It is good to remind yourself that the limbic system has power over the cortex; and it will subvert your perception without detection. When we notice our mind is wandered back to the service of subconscious, simply return to presence.
